Warm sun splashes the deck as a huge Coast Guard-manned troop transport heads back through the summery Atlantic with a load of Army troops and nurses returning to the states. Bare-backed bathing suits are the uniform of the day for the nurses as they lap up the suns rays on an area of the deck restricted to their use. But was the restriction necessary? Not if the three Coast Guardsmen at the left are any criterion. They totally disregard the pretties as they gaze with rapt attention into the beautiful innards of the twin 40mm antiaircraft weapon, which is only an ornament now that ships again are sailing on peaceful seas.
