Diamond Lightship #189 on station at Diamond Shoals, N.C. near Cape Hatteras. Launched 10/16/46 - placed on station 1947, Diamond and Pollack Lightships were the first designed and built by CG since the amalgamation of the Lighthouse Service with the Coast Guard in 1939.
