LTJG Beverly Kelley was the first woman to ever command a U.S. military vessel, the 95 ft. USCGC Newagen based at Maui, Hawaii. Manned with a crew of 14, the cutter carried out Search and Rescue and Law Enforcement missions. Photo dated April 1979.
