As part of the USS Bogue (CVE-9) HUK Group, USS Francis M. Robinson (DE-220) sank the Japanese submarine RO-501 (former U-1224) as R0-501 was en route to Japan. Francis M. Robinson was awarded a Presidential Unit Citation for her WW II service.
