As part of the USS Block Island (CVE-21) HUK Group, USS Corry (DD-463) and USS Bronstein (DE-189) sank U-801 after an eighteen hour pursuit. Corry hit a mine and sank off Utah Beach on the morning of 6 June 1944 during the Normandy invasion
