As part of the USS Block Island (CVE-21) HUK Group, USS Buckley (DE-51) rammed, was in turn rammed by, and eventually sank U-66. At one point, hand to hand fighting occurred between U.S. and German crews. Buckley and the USS Reuben James (DE-153) sank
