The USS Jacob Jones (DD-130) conducted neutrality patrols, later escorted Atlantic convoys, and hunted submarines along the U.S. East Coast. On 28 February 1942, Jacob Jones was torpedoed by U-578 off the Delaware Capes. Only 11 crewmen survived. U-57
