As part of the USS Bogue (CVE-9) HUK Group, USS George E. Badger (DD-196) sank U-613 and participated in the sinking of U-172. She was reclassified as APD-33 and participated in the Philippines Campaign. She was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation.
