During the Battle off Samar, USS St. Lo (CVE-63) was part of RAdm. C. A. F. Sprague?òs Task Unit 77.4.3 (Taffy 3). St. Lo was sunk on the morning of 25 October 1944, after being hit by a kamikaze, with the loss of 114 men.
