004013010 ANNAPOLIS, MD -- NAVYS GOT ITS GOAT -- Bill the Goat, as he is known to his midshipmen friends, is the latest in a long line of proud goats that have represented the Naval Academy through the years. At the fourth Army-Navy football game in 1893, young naval officers brought their pet goat El Cid to the sidelines to cheer the players. Navy won the game, and El Cid was feted as a hero. Bill XXVI, a white angora, has reigned as mascot since 1988.
