USS Nautilus (SS-168) was commissioned on 1 July 1930. She was part of a defensive screen west of Midway. On the early afternoon of 4 June, Nautilus fired three torpedoes at the burning IJN Kaga. (Early accounts indicate the carrier was IJN Soryu.) J
